It’s about that time…for the LOL Surprise Pearl Surprise!

Most people will be comparing the LOL Pearl Surprise with the LOL Big Surprise that was launched in the second half of 2017. These two items are similar but very different.
We’ve provided 5 things you should know BEFORE you buy the LOL Pearl Surprise in the hope that you’ll have all the information you need before you “splash out” (Get it? The ball is mermaid themed.)
1. The Pearl Surprise is not as big as the Big Surprise.
It is quite a bit smaller than the Big Surprise because the Pearl Surprise has only two separate layers.
Keep in mind, though, that the Pearl Surprise:
- Is only half a ball just like the Big Surprise.
- Is a carrying case and can be used to dissolve the charm fizz inside just like the Big Surprise.
2. There only 11 items inside the LOL Pearl Surprise.
The Big Surprise had a whopping 50 surprises. The Pearl Surprise, however, only has 11.
Each ball contains 11 items:
- 6 exclusive accessories for the dolls inside
- Seashell rainbow fizz (it’s like a charm fizz only really big)
- Seashell display for dolls
- Bottle accessory
- Exclusive tot (big sister) doll: Her name is Treasure.
- Exclusive lil sister doll: Her name is Lil Treasure.

3. There are 2 different editions of the LOL Pearl Surprise.
The makers of LOL Surprise Dolls have said that there are two different editions of the LOL Pearl Surprise. Think wave 1 and wave 2 like in most of the LOL doll series.
Edition 1 is a blue green ball.
Edition 1 has the ocean cuties Treasure and Lil Treasure.
LOL Pearl Surprise Edition 2 is a purple ball.
Pearl Surprise includes Precious and Lil Precious.
IMPORTANT! If you buy the blue-green ball, you will get the same dolls every time. If you buy the purple ball, you will get the same two dolls every time. The dolls inside the balls don’t change.
For the LOL Big Surprise, there was only one version…hence most of the frenzy about buying them because once they were gone, they were gone.
We expect that, based on the sales of the Pearl Surprise, the makers will release a second wave in greater numbers than the first.
4. The retail price of LOL Pearl Surprise is $29.99.
You guessed it! The retail price of the LOL Pearl Surprise is much lower than the Big Surprise ($69.99) for several reasons:
- It’s smaller
- There are only 11 items (not 50)
- The rainbow fizz has to be used immediately (to get out the dolls)
- There are only 2 dolls inside
What does this mean for you? It means don’t buy it if the price is significantly higher than $29.99 because the seller is just capitalizing on the feeding frenzy.

5. Wait until the price on Amazon is $29.99 and then buy.
Of course, you can search from store to store trying to find a Pearl Surprise. Wouldn’t it be much better, though, if it came directly to you?
So we recommend buying on online…on Amazon.
Amazon has taken over the retailing and shipping of some popular toys, including the Pearl Surprise and Big Surprise, in order to control the price gouging that happens on their site.
So, Amazon is selling you the Pearl Surprise directly. You don’t have to worry about fake balls, opened balls, or price changes. (And boy do prices online fluctuate!)
As long as…
Amazon still has the Pearl Surprise in stock. If it’s not in stock, then other buyers will try to overprice it, because they assume people want it badly. If you can be patient, you can get the retail price with FREE shipping…directly from Amazon.
So why not order from another online retailer? You could, but they often miss the mark. Toys R Us pre-sold the Pearl Surprise online for $69.99. I wonder if people got their money back…
Wal-Mart allows other sellers on their site and and it’s not usually clear that it’s not Wal-Mart…Target doesn’t always update their products in real-time.
