We’re tweening and loving it! LOL Tweens are bringing cute fashions, cute faces, and cute attitudes. Tweens are the perfect combination of the sweetness of LOL tots and great hair and real clothes of OMG dolls. There are better made than the LOL JK tots series, and smaller than Barbie-sized OMG dolls. Tweens are the perfect compromise for little ones that want OMG dolls and parents who are concerned that OMGs are too woman-like. They are also perfect for girls that have outgrown tots.

1. What are LOL Tweens?
LOL Tweens are the older sisters of LOL tots but the younger sisters of OMG dolls. They are “between” the two doll ages and sizes. They are larger than the LOL tots and lil sisters, but have all the sass. These dolls are themed around funky, cute, school-appropriate fashion and personalities.
These big LOL dolls have maintained many of the details we love about regular LOL dolls, while introducing new and cool ideas into the LOL universe.
If your little one is already into Barbie dolls, she will probably adore LOL Tweens dolls. Otherwise, stick with the normal LOL dolls to ensure she plays with your latest purchase.
So what is a tween exactly?
In 1980s and 1990s language, a tween is a pre-teen. Tweens are between the ages of 9 and 12. They aren’t kids anymore, but they aren’t teenagers yet. We love that LOL Tweens are a more approachable and respectable version of larger LOL dolls.
2. This series IS appropriate for everyone.
Many aspects of the LOL universe have been unpredictable. Tots dolls had their color change controversy a while back. Many people despise the LOL boys because they are anatomically correct. OMGs…well…
OMG dolls are very…uh…womanly. We applaud that these dolls have curves, but they may be too “severe” for some.
If you’re ok with the bodies, sometimes the “fashion” can keep you from purchasing. Think fishnets, hot pants, and crop tops. Usually, OMG dolls come in very “racy” fashion. There are short skirts and super-tight pants. Out of the box, OMG dolls are wearing swimsuits that may look like underwear to some. You can really even unbox them in front of other adults that are not familiar with LOL dolls because they will be too shocked.
Fortunately…
LOL Tweens ARE appropriate for everyone. Their bodies are reasonable without being severe. The fashions are funky without being too revealing. Their attitudes are sassy without being inappropriate. LOVE IT!
3. LOL Tweens have real hair and real clothes!
We’ve had a few tots series with real rooted hair and JK dolls come with hair and real clothes, but Tweens are something else!
Tweens have rooted hair that is perfect for lots of combing and fluffing sessions.
Also, LOL clothes have come a long way since the first OMG dolls. LOL Tweens have cool clothes with working features that make them like your little one’s clothes.
All Tweens are the same size the clothes can be used interchangeably for new looks.
4. LOL Tween dolls are about 6.5 inches tall.
LOL Tweens are the size of 2 tots dolls stacked on top of each other. Tweens only come up to around the shoulder height of OMG dolls, since OMGs are 10.5 inches tall. If your little one is used to Barbies, she will find these dolls a bit small. However, if she’s already an LOL doll lover, she will find LOL Tweens a bit more manageable than a regular tot doll.
Tweens dolls have bendable arms and legs (knees). They will be stiff at first, but you have to click them a few times to warm them up. After the limbs are working properly, you will know they are fixed in place when you hear the click.
Some Barbie and OMG clothes MAY fit Tweens.
5. Big LOL dolls come in a box…
…not a ball,
…or a canister.
Yup, these guys actually come in boxes like OMG dolls. The box also functions as a playset, so there’s a logic behind the design.
Each box color is slightly different, but they should all have black and white stripes and many of the same elements on them.
However…
Beware of fake LOL dolls. Be sure to check the box you find carefully because it is much easier for counterfeiters to copy a box, rather than a ball.
6. The doll on the package is the doll inside.
That’s right!
Unlike many other LOL dolls and toys, the doll on the package is the one that’s inside. You need to pay close attention to the LOL Tweens doll you’re buying to ensure you get the one your little one wants. After all, she may not check the picture on the package until AFTER she has unwrapped it, then good luck returning it to the store.
The name of the doll is on the front left bottom side of the box and on the side of the box (like a book title).
One foolproof option is to buy Tweens dolls on Amazon because there’s a separate listing for each one that makes it clear which one you are buying.
7. There are 4 dolls in LOL Tweens Series 1.
Just like many OMG series, Tweens series 1 has 4 sassy girls that come with plenty of accessories to enjoy. Clothes and accessories will fit other Tweens dolls, so you’ll probably need more dolls if you want your little one to have lots of fun mixing and matching the outfits to create new looks.
