If your little one is getting interested in hair, then she will LOVE an LOL Styling Head. These fun playsets are based on OMG (Outrageous Millennial Girls) dolls, the sassy older sisters of LOL tots doll fan favorites. Your little hairstylist-in-training will spend hours braiding, styling, and restyling hair on these toys based on hairdresser learning tools.

Check out our parents’ quick guide to the OMG LOL Styling Heads so you can know before you buy. If you’re looking for the best prices, check the price on Amazon before you head to the store searching for these sassy heads.

1. There are currently only 4 different styling heads.

Your little one can choose from 4 heads, each based on an existing OMG doll. The details and makeup are so beautiful that we decided to show the full image here.

So many surprises! That means lots of styling. Here’s what your little one can expect to receive in addition to the LOL Styling Head:

  • 1 necklace
  • 2 bun makers
  • 2 earrings
  • 6 barrettes
  • 2 braiding tools
  • 6 hairpins
  • 2 ball hair bands (they have balls on the end)
  • 1 hair clip
  • 5 elastic hair ties

Your little one can even use these in her hair!

3. The hair sticks onto the head for Series 1. Series 2 is rooted.

Series 1 of the LOL Styling Head with Royal Bee and Neonlicious has hair that is stick on.

That’s right…

Out of the box these cuties have a very low molded plastic haircut. All the hairpieces are stick on. If your little one loves either of those dolls, then she won’t mind.

For the rest of us…we need rooted hair!

The makers of LOL dolls listened to fan requests, so Series 2 dolls (Miss Independent and Candylicious) have rooted hair. No sticky hairpieces, no wet hair mess, and no useless head when the sticky wears off.

If your little one is just learning to braid or do updos, we recommend the Miss Independent or Candylicious because the rooted hair makes maintaining these styles easier.

4. An LOL Styling Head is a complete play and storage set.

Each head swivels for easy styling (think like a stylist who spins the chair around). The platform the head rests on is actually a storage drawer. She can pull the drawer out and use it to store all those pieces the head came with (thank goodness!) and her favorite styling tools.

5. Only Royal Bee and Neonlicious color change.

The first two LOL styling heads to launch had a cool feature: color change makeup. Unfortunately, this was before all the color change controversy with LOL dolls, so the next two toys released do not color change.

Your little one can make Neonlicious or Royal Bee color change by rubbing ice all over her face. Her makeup, including eye makeup and lipstick, will change for a completely new look. Her face will stay this way until wiped with a warm towel. Make sure that your little one doesn’t get the hair wet when she does this because it is the surest way to ruin the hair.

Frequently Asked Questions about LOL Styling Head

Do the dolls have rooted or stick-on hair?

Royal Bee and Neonlicious have stick-on hair. Miss Independent and Candylicious have rooted hair that doesn’t come off.

Does the LOL Styling Head hair shed?

We’ve found that the hair does shed a bit, especially the early hairpieces. We recommend teaching your little one to comb and brush softly to reduce the chance that the har will come out.

Can my little one get the hair wet?

Unfortunately, these aren’t washable styling heads. We don’t recommend getting them wet because you will have a shedding mess on your hands. Getting Royal Bee’s hair wet will definitely mess up the style. You also cannot use styling products like hair spray, gel, or mousse since these products wet the hair.

Does it color change?

Royal Bee and Neonlicious do color change since they were Series 1. Miss Independent and Candylicious do not color change.

What are the LOL Styling Heads release dates?

Royal Bee and Neonlicious came out in March 2020, while Miss Independent and Candylicious were released in March 2021.

How much do OMG Styling Heads cost?

The lowest retail price we’ve seen on an LOL Styling Head is $24.88. Amazon has matched the Walmart price, so save your time, gas, and sanity and buy it on Amazon.
