1. Hairdorables are surprise dolls with hair that can be styled.
One of the complaints about LOL dolls is that you can’t comb the hair. Well, Hairdorables solve that problem!
With Hairdorables, you get the surprise doll unboxing experience AND lustrous hair that is soft enough to be combed and long enough to be styled.
Unless you get one of the 3 Hairdorables with super curly hair. These 3 dolls have hair that won’t style easily and won’t be the same if it’s combed out.
Why is this a risk? Because…
2. You don’t know which doll you’re going to get.
Obviously, the big thing about surprise dolls is you don’t know which ones you are going to get. While this may be frustrating for parents (we want to know what our hard earned money is buying), little girls love it.
Is it possible to get 2 of the same doll? Yes.
Is it possible to get one of the curly haired dolls? Yes.
It’s a risk your little one is willing to take just for the element of surprise.
If you get 2 of the same doll, you can shout “Twins!” as my little one did and live with the duplicate. OR, you can join a Hairdorables Facebook and sell the duplicate to get some of your money back (yes, there is a resellers’ market for Hairdorables).
3. Hairdorables series 1 has 12 different dolls.
There are 12 different Hairdorables dolls in series 1. Each one has a cute little personality and backstory that you can read about on the toymaker’s (Just Play) official Hairdorables website.
Here are all 12 dolls together.
4. There are 36 dolls because each doll has 3 different looks.
If you look at the Hairdorables packaging, it reads that there are 36 dolls to collect. How can there be only 12 dolls in series 1 but 36 to collect?
Each doll has 3 different looks!
One doll has a signature (most common) look and then 2 other looks. For example, Noah’s signature look is Sk8r Noah with long blue and yellow hair, a skater dress, and skateboard. Noah Knows, look number 2, has blue braids, a backwards hat, and totally different outfit. Selfie Noah, look number 3, has long blue pigtails, a pink hair accessory, and–again–totally different outfit.
This aspect of collectibility is totally different from the way LOL dolls and other surprise toys tend to work. Normally, there would be 36 different dolls to collect. With Hairdorables, there are still 36 dolls to collect but most are iterations of the most popular doll.

5. Unwrap the box carefully because it’s a play scene.
While many other surprise toys come in plastic balls or bags that have very little play use, Hairdorables come inside a box that turns into a cute vanity and closet.
It may be better if you (rather than your little one) open the box. Follow the exact preferrations and instructions on the box so that you can preserve the play scene inside.
6. There are 11 surprises inside.
Yes, 11 surprises! Here are the contents of each box:
- Comb
- Shoes
- Accessory (purse, phone, tablet, etc.)
- Hair accessory (headband, bow, clip on hair, etc.)
- Doll
- Signature card
- Collector’s mat
- Sticker 1
- Sticker 2
- Another sticker
- And yet another sticker

7. Finally, fabric doll clothes and bendable arms and legs!
If you were tired of tearing little plastic dresses, you’re in luck! Hairdorables clothes are made of fabric.
Each Hairdorables doll comes with a fabric outfit that can be put on other dolls. We find that fabric doll clothes have more longevity than plastic ones. Yes, you may have to clean them eventually, but at least you will be able to keep then for awhile.
Hairdorables also have bendable arms and legs. They move at the sockets as well. Rubber arms and legs means more poses and, ultimately, more playability for your little one.
8. Says ages 3+ but we recommend 5+.
At a height of around 5.5 inches, Hairdorables are larger than LOL dolls (3.5 inches) and the same size as Shopkins Shoppies.
Based on the height and limited small pieces, the stated age range for Hairdorables is ages 3 and above.
However, we feel that 3 years old is still too young for this doll. There are some pieces and sharp corners that can easily go in ears, eyes, and mouths. In addition, you wouldn’t want a little one sucking on the head or hair.

What We Like
- The dolls have combable hair and are bigger than LOL dolls.
- Each doll comes with everything necessary for lots of play options.
- Good standalone gift at a reasonable price.
What We Don’t Like
- We don’t know if the 12 dolls with 3 different looks thing is a good or bad idea.
- Not as cute as LOL dolls.
- A few of the dolls have super curly hair that can’t easily be styled.
Final Verdict
Hairdorables dolls make a great standalone gift for birthday parties, Christmas, or other holidays. Some parents are saying Hairdorables are better than LOL dolls because of the combable hair, larger size, and value from the money. Let us know what you think in the comments.
