This game has the fun and pretty look of LOL Surprise all over it. In addition, it features the cute dolls and accessories, as well as the personalities your little ones have come to know.

But even people who don’t already know the LOL Surprise line of products will find hours of enjoyment in this fun mobile game.

How to Play LOL Surprise Ball Pop

If you’ve ever played a bubble popping game, you know how it works: balls descend from the top of the screen. You aim balls up from the bottom at the descending balls, attempting to match three and “pop” them. If the descending balls get below the line, you lose.

During game play, a dotted line on the screen indicates the trajectory of your ball before you launch it, helping you aim accurately and hit the ball you intend to hit. A progress bar with a heart on it at the top indicates how many more balls you need to pop before you get a special ball.

LOL Dolls Shake Things Up

While playing the LOL Surprise Ball Pop Game, occasionally a doll from Series 1 shows up at the side of the screen. The doll will either “shake things up” by changing the colors of some of the balls in play, or, if you have played well enough to complete the progress bar above, she will add a special ball with a heart on it to the balls in play.

Get That Unboxing Feel

When you match the special ball, you get to “unbox” a virtual LOL Surprise ball and see what’s inside! The surprises can be any of the accessories that come with the LOL Surprise dolls:

• A headband
• A dress
• A pair of shoes
• A bottle
• A clue about the doll
• A doll surprise sticker sheet

Note that if you don’t “pop” the special ball, but just knock it off the board, you don’t get to “unbox” the surprise. You have to match it in order to reveal the prize and progress towards unboxing the doll.

Collect LOL Dolls!

Once you’ve unboxed the six surprise items, you are gifted a big ball with a LOL Surprise Series 1 or Series 2 doll inside it, and that doll is added to your in-game virtual collection. You can visit your collection at any time, or keep playing to uncover more accessories and unlock more dolls.

Notes on LOL Surprise Ball Pop Game Play

The game is simple and fun, and moderately challenging, particularly since you have to match the special balls. You can aim your ball directly up at the descending balls, or try to bounce it off the side to get a beneficial angle.

There is no time limit, and it’s addicting to play for hours and hours.

It is intended for kids 9-11. But…

My 5 year old has loved playing it since it came out. She loves the game and can play it without supervision.

Adults may find it a bit repetitive over time. However, there are also plenty of adults who downloaded the game in order to satisfy their kids’ craving for more LOL Surprise, only to find themselves playing the game hour after hour.

No Supervision Required!

Parents will be happy to know that, not only is the game app totally free for Android and iPhones, but it’s also ad-free with no in-game purchases, so it’s safe for even young children to play without being supervised or tempted.

No Permissions

Furthermore, installation of this game doesn’t require a lot of potentially problematic permissions, such as access to your location or contacts. While many games have legitimate reasons for these permissions, it’s wise to be cautious about them, and LOL Surprise Ball Pop doesn’t raise any reasons for concern.

Reviewers love this game. It’s rated 4.3 out of 5 on the Google Play store, and 4.4 out of 5 on the App Store. The most common negative comments are:

• Reviewers wish the game included Little Sister dolls, and pets, so that their virtual collection can be complete
• Another common complaint is that the graphics for the surprises (except for the clue) are all the same, so it is always the same dress, the same headband, the same bottle, etc. Reviewers wish that the surprises were more unique to the doll that you are working to reveal
• Reviewers wish that the dolls, once revealed, also had the special water surprise of the actual LOL Surprise Dolls. While the graphic sticker refers to the water surprise, the doll graphics in the game do not include that feature
