LOL Winter Chalet Guide

LOL Winter Chalet is the second generation LOL doll house and…wow. If your little one liked the LOL Doll House, but couldn’t get one, check out the new chalet. It’s based on a ski lodge (or winter chalet) theme, so there are ski lifts, real snow, and an ice rink…

Well, you get the picture. There is SO MUCH in this new house that is exciting and different from other doll houses that we’ve seen. If your little one doesn’t have a house, consider getting this one. BUT FIRST, read our parents’ guide so you know BEFORE you buy and check the price of the LOL Surprise Winter Disco Chalet on Amazon.

1. The LOL Winter Chalet is 3 feet (about 1 meter) by 3 feet.

Everything about the previous LOL house was huge, and the LOL Winter Chalet is no different. The box it comes in is huge. The house itself is huge. The entire package weighs in at about 44 pounds according to Amazon’s shipping statistics. You will most likely need someone to help you carry it.

Once assembled, the house is about 1 foot deep. Before you buy, ask yourself:

• Do I have somewhere to display this?
• Where can I store this once my little one is tired of playing with it?
• Who can I pass it down to once my little one is outgrows it?

Now, keep in mind, that there are so many features and the internal height of the Winter Chalet is so useful that she will be able to use it with other dolls. She may not get tired of it as quickly as her other toys.

2. It’s made of real wood and YOU have to put it together.

Why is the box so heavy? Because the LOL Winter Chalet is made of real wood (ok, laminated pressed wood).

Once you’ve unboxed your little one’s house (we recommend you do it because it will require scissors), you’ll see that it’s flat packed like a really complicated piece of IKEA furniture.

There are wooden panels…and lots of them.

There is no part of this house already put together for you. You must assemble it yourself. You must also assemble some of the furniture.

Fortunately, instructions, tools, and screws are included in the box. We do recommend also having your own phillips head screwdriver.

You can find the directions inside the snow bus in the plastic bag with a 2 sided cardboard panel. The Instructions list all the box contents, including furniture and dolls. Check the box to make sure you have all the pieces of the house part first.

Fortunately, the makers of LOL dolls–MGA Entertainment–learned from the release of the LOL Doll House and put together an assemble video for the LOL Winter Chalet. Thank goodness!

Tips for Putting Together the LOL Winter Chalet

Here are a few other tips to hopefully make putting together the LOL Winter Chalet easier:

• Ask your little one to go play somewhere else before you get started. Having a little one buzzing around is likely to distract, pressure, and frustrate you. I know it did for me!
• Read the directions for assembling the house BEFORE attempting to put it together. Assembly is complicated!
• Layout all the house pieces and screws the way they should be built before starting assembly.
• Try fitting together some levels BEFORE screwing them in. It’s easy to get the panel sides confused.
• Put the entire house together before unboxing the furniture.

Assembly should take some time. Expect to spend about 30 minutes to 1 hour putting things together.

3. The LOL Winter Chalet comes with a reusable snow bus and unboxable furniture.

Inside the massive house box, you’ll find a cardboard box with the wood panels of the house and a pink and blue cardboard snow bus. After all, the dolls are boarding the bus to their winter chalet getaway.

The snow bus is made of sturdy cardboard so your little one can keep and play with it…as long as you open it carefully.

Inside the snow bus, your little one will find pink and blue luggage boxes. Each box contains furniture.

All boxes have perforated edges for easy opening but you’ll probably need scissors anyway, so be sure to supervise your little one’s unboxing.

4. The huge LOL chalet has 3 stories and 6 rooms.

The LOL Winter Chalet has a similar feel to the doll house with 3 levels and 6 rooms, but the chalet has SO much more.

There’s a ski lift that dolls can use to go from the top to the bottom of the chalet. The chimney blows play snow (there are 4 bags included with the chalet). There’s even more…

The first floor of the house has 2 rooms: a frosty dancing space with disco ball (it’s winter disco after all) and a cozy, warm living room for lounging. A staircase leads from the first floor to the second floor, which has a bedroom with convertible beds and spa bathroom. On the third floor, your little one will find the cafe’ (they are on vacay so no need for a full kitchen) and a sun deck for winter sunning.

5. There are real WORKING parts!

What modern doll house would be complete without a little bit of tech?

The LOL Winter Chalet features a few working surprises for your little one. In the living room, she’ll find a flickering fire in the fireplace. The second downstairs living room has pink and blue light up sofas. In the bathroom, she’ll find the toilet makes flushing sounds and light up blue railing. The bedroom has a light up bedside lamp as well. Not enough yet? Of course not! The ice skating rink lights up as well.

6. There’s a rockin’ party patio.

Ok, the LOL Doll House had a party patio, but we didn’t know what to call this one, so we’re using the same name. At the bottom of the house, you’ll find 2 neat areas to extend your little one’s play. On the left is a hot tub. Fill it with warm water and her dolls can slide from the second floor straight into the tub. The entire hot tub is plastic, so you don’t have to worry about water warping the wood (like it did for the first LOL house).

Make sure the water is only warm…not hot. The warm water will make color changing dolls change color. To change them back, just dunk them in cool water.

Next to the hot tub is an ice skating rink. Fill the pull out plastic panel with water and freeze the whole panel. Afterwards, your little one’s dolls will be able to skate on it using the included skates. Here are some tips to get the most out of ice skating:

• The larger set of skates is for LOL OMG dolls. They should wear them without shoes.
• Tots and pets can wear the smaller set of skates WITH shoes.
• There are groves for the dolls to skate in, but your little one has to move them. If only that was mechanized too!

We recommend putting a thin towel or cloth down beneath this part of the chalet to soak up spills quickly.

7. Some of the items transform for more play.

You could read the entire instruction manual to figure out which items change into others, or you can just read this!

• Flip the big stairs over to use the slide from the 2nd floor to the 1st floor.
• Beds in the bedroom can be stacked to form bunk beds.
• Sofas from the cool first floor living room can be put together to be a bed for LOL OMG dolls.
• The top window pulls down to reveal the sun deck.
• Flip the whole chalet for an Aspen like town scene for shopping, cafe’-ing, and more.

8. An exclusive 3 doll family is included with the house.

The LOL Winter Chalet comes with 3 exclusive matching dolls: a big sister, a big brother, and a pet. You can only get these 3 with the chalet. They aren’t sold separately.

The family comes inside a box in the snow bus, not in balls like normal LOL dolls. Blind bags for each doll are also inside the box. There’s a family portrait (like the collector’s poster) with the sticker pack so you see all the cuties before your little one unboxes.

Meet the Ice Ice Family

Here are the 3 dolls included with the LOL Winter Chalet:

Ice Ice B.B. is the big sister of the family and comes with 6 accessories: top, bottom, ear muffs, sunglasses, shoes, and bottle. She color changes in WARM WATER to reveal her winter disco long johns.

Ice Ice Boi is a big brother and comes with 6 accessories: top, bottom, ear muffs, sunglasses, shoes, and bottle. He color changes in COLD WATER to show off his swim bottoms.

The pet of the family, Ice Ice Husky, comes with 3 accessories: pet sweater/harness, bottle, and shoes. Ice Ice Husky spits when you fill him with water.

Since these dolls are part of an exclusive collection, Ice Ice B.B., Ice Ice Boi, and Ice Ice Husky are all ultra-rare.

9. Ice Ice Boi has a frank and beans.

This is absolutely the first thing you must know about all LOL boy tots dolls (including Ice Ice Boi)…

They have a frank and beans.

Yes, these dolls are anatomically correct. AND it’s obvious.

Your little girl will see the male parts and definitely ask questions about them, so if you aren’t ready for the “boys are different from girls” talk, avoid the LOL boys.

However, if your little one has a brother (or even close boy cousins) so has probably already figured this out but never mentioned it. Might be worth asking her what she knows…

10. There are more than 95 surprises.

The LOL Winter Chalet is definitely full of things to unbox and unbag. All in all, there are more than 95 surprises. In addition to the house, the doll family, and the stickers, your little one gets furniture. And lots of it!

What Doesn’t Come with the Winter Disco Chalet

Here’s what you may have seen on the box or in pictures that DOES NOT come with the LOL Winter Chalet:

• A bunch of LOL dolls and pets. Only 2 dolls and 1 pet are included.
• OMG dolls. Although larger dolls are pictured on the box, there are none included.
• More bags and accessories. You only get the accessories that come with the dolls and pet.
• Cups, plates, kitchen utensils, and food. These items were only shown for illustrative purposes on the box.
• The tools to assemble the chalet. You’ll need your own screw drivers and drill (if you like).

11. There are so many little touches.

Despite the items it doesn’t include, the LOL Winter Disco Chalet has so many details for you, your little one, and other LOL doll lovers to discover. The makers of LOL dolls, MGA Entertainment, included details in everything from the decor to the doll accessories.

Here are just a few cute things we noticed:

• The wrapping paper for moving is like an LOL doll newspaper.
• Drawers on most furniture open and close.
• Impressions and decorations on plastic pieces.
• Blind bags have unique packaging.
• The LOL dolls riding the snow bus are from the Chill Out Club (like Posh).
• Ice Ice Husky has an ear cuff earring.
• It looks like there’s hot cocoa in the water bottles.

Care Tips for the LOL Surprise Winter Disco Chalet

Your little one’s LOL Winter Disco Chalet should be easy to clean and maintain. The laminated wood shouldn’t scratch or stain easily.

Here are our tips to prolong the life of this wonderfully big and beautiful chalet:

• Empty the ice skating rink and hot tub when not in use. They are unlikely to leak but if they do and are in contact with the wood doll house for extended periods of time, the water will warp the wood.
• Dust the house at least once a month. You should be able to use an oil-free furniture spray with no problem.
• If you need to wash the chalet for some reason, use a little bit of liquid dish soap mixed with warm water. Rinse with cold water.
• You can fill scratches using a furniture touch up marker.

Frequently Asked Questions about the LOL Winter Chalet

Does the chalet come with an OMG doll?

Although the pictures make it look like the chalet might come with an OMG doll, the LOL Winter Chalet does not come with an LOL OMG doll. The chalet includes 1 girl tot, 1 boy tot, and 1 pet from the same family.

Is the boy in the LOL Winter Chalet anatomically correct?

Yes he is! Like all LOL doll boys, the boy in the LOL Winter Chalet has obvious boy body parts between his legs.

How can I get more snow for the blower?

Order it on Amazon! One of our favorites is Blizzardly Fun because it can be used in the LOL Winter Chalet and won’t clog it. In addition, you can use this fake snow in slime, on decorations, and in crafts. Score!

Alternatively, you can collect and reuse the snow beads included with the house. Sounds like a great clean up activity for little ones.

Will OMG dolls fit in the house?

Absolutely! The Winter Chalet has been sized to fit OMG dolls comfortably. Barbies should fit as well.

Is there any way to get more furniture?

There sure is! Get one of the LOL Surprise Furniture play sets that comes with furniture sized to fit the LOL Winter Chalet. There are also sets that come with cars that will fit LOL tots and lil sisters.

Which batteries are included for the LOL Winter Chalet and which aren’t?

Not included (You’ll have to provide 3 AAA and 6 AA batteries for the LOL Winter Chalet):

• 3 AA batteries each for the 15 feet of chalet lights and chimney/fireplace
• 3 AAA batteries for the light up

Included

• AG13 (LR44) batteries for the toilet x 3
• (LR 41) AG3 batteries for the bedroom lamp x 3
• AG13 (LR44) batteries each for the wood-burning fire, light up sofas, and bathroom railing x 3
