So naturally, MGA Entertainment has released the first and second wave of LOL Surprise Pets to add to your collection. In fact, the new pets are so cute that some people prefer them to the dolls themselves.
Each pet is designed to go with a Big Sister and a Lil Sister, to complete the family.

Here are the top things you need to know about these adorable LOL pets:
1. Cats, dogs, and more!
The LOL Surprise Pet collection includes puppies, kitties, bunnies, hamsters, and even the surprising Midnight Pup – a cute little dog with bat wings.
The pets were released in two waves. Wave 1 features 18 pets as does wave 2. So, there are 36 pets total in Series 3.
2. The surprise ball packaging is yellow.
Just like the LOL big sisters (tots) and lils released in Series 3 Confetti Pop, the packaging for the LOL pets is yellow.
3. There are 2 different pets on Wave 1 and Wave 2 balls.
Not sure if you’re buying from wave 1 or wave 2? Take a look at the pet on the ball.
Wave 1 balls feature Neon Kitty.
However, wave 2 balls show Dollmatian.
So why does the wave that you buy matter? Different pets have been included in wave 1 and wave 2. If you like some more than others, you increase your chance of getting a pet you’ll love by buying in the right wave.
4. Series 3 Pets have 7 surprises.
Similar to the LOL Surprise Dolls, each pet comes in a layered ball with 7 layers:
- Secret message sticker
- Water surprise sticker
- Bottle
- Pooper scooper
- Shoes
- Accessory
- Pet
5. One accessory is inside the pet sand.
A cool little extra surprise with the LOL pets is that one accessory is hidden inside the pet sand. Your little one can use the pooper scooper to dig out the accessory.
Unfortunately, if the shoes are the accessory that is hidden in the sand, it is a little bit of work to get all the sand out of the inside of the tiny shoes. The easiest way to remove the sand is just to wash the shoes and then wipe them with a small cloth or wet wipe.
6. Don’t throw away the sand…it’s kinetic sand!
The sand in the sandbox is kinetic sand, so it’s tactile and moldable, to avoid messes and spills and keep the fun going. The sandbox neatly clips together, to keep the sand in one place, and the kinetic sand adapts to the cute paw prints in the mold every time.
What is kinetic sand you ask?
Kinetic sand is super cool moldable sand. It has the look and feel of slightly wet sand, but it only sticks to itself. That’s right…no spills or sticky surfaces from kinetic sand.
It NEVER dries out so your little one can use it over and over again when playing with her pet.
If she likes kinetic sand, you might consider getting her a portable kinetic sand box. Kinetic sand is the PERFECT alternative to play dough!
7. Pets have water surprises also.
Pets may color change, tinkle, cry, or spit water just like the dolls.
8. You get a pet bed too!
The ball the pets are packaged in converts into a little pet bed with a litter box for them to live in or into a small purse or case just like the dolls’ balls do.
9. There are rare and ultra-rare pets.
Rare pets for the first wave of Series 3 are the Crystal bunny, in the Glitterati Club. This bunny is also fuzzy!
Ultra-rare pets for the first wave of Series 3 are:
- Splash Meow-Maid, a kitty mermaid in the Glitterati Club
- MC Hammy, a hamster in the Glee Club
- Fancy Haute Dog, a dachshund in the Opposites Club
- Cherry Ham, a hamster in the Retro Club
Rare pets for Series 3 wave 2 are Kitty Kitty (Glitterati Club) and Pup Bee (Glitterati).
Ultra-rare pets for Series 3 wave 2 are:
- It Kitty, a cat in the Glam Club
- Rolls, a hamster in the Athletic Club
- Heart Barker, a pup in the Storybook Club
- Trouble Squeaker, a hamster in the Storybook Club
All hamsters are ultra-rare.
